Beck returns home

Head coach Kirby Smart was asked if quarterback Carson Beck seemed more nervous than normal given that he’s returning home to Jacksonville this week to take on Florida.

“Nothing from last week (indicates that). I thought he was good last week, and he continues to work on the things that are going to give us a chance to win,” Smart said. “That’s him being accurate, him making good decisions, him putting us in right plays. He's a bright kid. Sees a lot of defense in the off-season and walkthroughs here. When you see a lot of defense, you've been exposed to a lot of things. That gives him confidence. He knows it's not all on him. He has people around him to help him.”

Smart maintained that all Beck needs to do is execute the offense as he has over the past seven weeks to be successful against the Gators.

“It’s all about working and executing within the offense which is what we’re going to ask Carson to do, play within the offense,” Smart said. “He’s a quarterback with a lot of experience under his belt. I know he’ll be excited to play in Jacksonville.”

Not thinking about it

Safety Javon Bullard was asked if there is any added pressure on the program given that Georgia is on a program record 24-game winning streak.

“Not at all. I don’t even know what win streak we’re on. We’re trying to win every game. We go into every game with the same mindset,” Bullard said. “It doesn’t matter how many games we’ve won, it doesn’t matter how many games we lost. We just try to win every game.”

Of course, Smart said the streak isn’t something he’s concerned with either.

“I don't think about it a lot. I mean, what consumes me is how we're going to gain a yard, what we're going to do in this situation, what we're going to do at practice,” Smart said. “I can't speak for every kid on the team, but the focus is not on the wins and losses of the games.”
