Brock Bowers may be out, but it appears that some other injured Bulldogs could be ready to return to the field for Saturday’s game against Florida (3:30 p.m., CBS).
That list potentially includes offensive lineman Amarius Mims (ankle) and running back Roderick Robinson (ankle).
Both players have watched from the sidelines for more than a month after suffering their injuries during Georgia’s Week 3 win over South Carolina.
Although it’s unclear if Mims would be inserted back into the starting role at right tackle, his presence at least improves Georgia’s offensive line depth.
This is particularly true since Xavier Truss suffered an ankle injury two weeks ago at Vanderbilt. Fortunately, the senior appears ready to return.
If Mims does start, then Truss could potentially move back to left guard where he started in Georgia’s first three games.
"We'll find out a lot more today," head coach Kirby Smart said. "They both were able to do some different things last week in the off-week, a lot of rehab, a lot of maintenance, and a lot of getting back. But until I see them out there today, I probably would be a good judge to be able to tell."
Smart said Robinson practiced with the team last week.
"Rod was able to go last week," Smart said.
The potential return of Robinson could also pay dividends. Although Daijun Edwards has been impressive since his return, Georgia has had to cross its fingers when keeping Kendall Milton on the field.
Milton missed the second half against Vanderbilt due to what Smart called “precautionary reasons” after taking a hit to his MCL.
The senior is expected to be ready to go against the Gators, but having Robinson available certainly will not hurt the Bulldogs’ cause.
"Kendall was good last week, he pushed through," Smart said. "He did a good job. We'll see where he is at today."
Also, Smart said that left guard Tate Ratledge had a bit of an elbow issue coming out of the Vanderbilt game, but "is fine." Per Smart, Ratledge practiced all last week.
