We asked and the DawgVent voted. Who are your favorite players of the Kirby Smart era? Any player was eligible, as long as he played for Georgia from 2016 to now (even if some of their highlights came prior to Kirby Smart's arrival).
With each of your favorites, we will provide a video collection of some of their best plays and memorable moments in the red and black.
2. Sony Michel
Never afraid to compete, Sony Michel arrived in Athens as a five-star recruit near the bottom of a crowded running back depth chart. Veterans Todd Gurley, Keith Marshall, and Brendan Douglas were already featured. Nick Chubb also joined the mix as part of the class of 2014. Michel quickly established himself as a team leader and playmaker. He was mature both on the field and off it.
Iconic play: Rose Bowl game winning touchdown
This is a no-brainer. Georgia stormed back from an early deficit and forced overtime, and then double-overtime. Lorenzo Carter had just blocked Oklahoma's field goal attempt, and Georgia took over possession in a tie game. Any score would clinch Georgia's spot in the national championship. Michel took the snap in the Wild Dawg formation, ran to his left behind the blocking of Isaiah Wynn, Isaac Nauta, and Jake Fromm (really, he threw a great block), and strolled into the end zone untouched.
