One of Mike White’s top lieutenants is moving on.
Assistant coach Erik Pastrana is heading back to his home state of Florida where he will be an assistant coach at Miami.
Jeff Goodman also reported the news.
Pastrana, who also coached with White at Florida, had successful stints at Oklahoma State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, and Stephen F. Austin.
He played a key role in Georgia’s recruiting efforts the last two years, helping the Bulldogs sign the No. 12 class in 2023 and the No. 10 class in 2024, according to Rivals. Georgia’s current signing class – Jackson McVey, Kareem Stagg, and Jacob Wilkins – currently ranks 22nd.
Pastrana also played a key role in the recruitment of five-star Asa Newell, who is expected to announce his intentions to enter the NBA Draft.
He joins new Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas, who was recently hired to take over for Jim Larranaga.
