Linebacker CJ Allen also spoke to the media before the start of spring practice.

Below, see the highlights of what he had to say.

• When asked about being one of the older guys in the room, Allen said, “It’s a blessing.” He just wants to be the best leader he can.

• Allen said, “Raylen is being Raylen.” He’s not surprised at the progress he’s made.

• Allen said Chris Cole and Justin Williams “aren’t freshmen anymore.” Said both have stepped up their games.

• When asked what drives him to play football, Allen said, “Because I want to keep the main thing the main thing.”

• Allen said freshman Zayden Walker “just wants to work.”

• Allen joked that Nate Frazier “likes to talk smack” during practice.

• Allen also said Frazier is “growing up” as far as his leadership goes.

• On advice he has to newcomers: “Just take it day by day,” Allen said.
