Raylen Wilson spoke to the media before the start of spring practice.
Below are the highlights of what he had to say.
• On goals for the spring, Wilson said, “I intend to improve on everything, but my main thing is tackling and knowing where everybody is.” • Wilson said he gave credit to the play calling by Glenn Schumann for giving him more opportunities.
• Wilson said being a team leader on defense is “something we try to do and lead by example.” Said he wants to be more vocal and “pull everybody along.”
• Wilson said he learned a lot from Smael Mondon. But the main thing was “how to keep your body right.”
• When asked about the talent around him, Wilson said he believes every aspect of the team will be better than last year.
• Wilson said he and CJ Allen have been told they are expected to be the quarterbacks of the defense.
• Wilson said Chris Cole and Justin Williams “are getting better every day; they’re following in the footsteps of himself and Allen.
• Wilson said he and CJ Allen are “tight” on and off the field. Said they try to coach each other every day in practice.
• Wilson said he feels “the whole d-line is ready to make that jump this year.”
• Wilson said the offensive line has been going hard in the weight room. “That’s what we expect,” Wilson said.
