MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Elijah Moore won’t be an uncommitted prospect for much longer.
The four-star wide receiver is kicking around commitment dates and plans to settle on one in the near future. So while his choice between Georgia and Ole Miss remains in doubt, the timetable is starting to clear.
“It’s coming soon,” Moore said of his announcement. “I’ll put a date on twitter either next week or the week after. It’s getting done soon.” Moore originally released a top four of Miami, Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama but that list seems to have thinned in recent days. These days, the receiver’s recruitment looks more like a two-horse race.
“Right now, recruiting me the hardest are Ole Miss an Georgia,” Moore said. “‘Bama is in there too, but Ole Miss and Georgia are pressing the hardest right now.” Moore, who attends Ft, Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School, is ranked as the No. 16 wide receiver and the No. 88 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
IN HIS WORDS:
-- “Coach [Hugh] Freeze [being fired], I had a little trouble with it at first. It threw me off guard because I was, like, an hour away from there for my visit. But, you know, things like this happen. The visit was good. They acted like nothing happened, and it went well. It was good.”
-- “Georgia’s a great school. Coach [Kirby] Smart is a great coach. Coming from Alabama, he thinks smart. Everything is good there. They love to throw the ball and get people to the NFL.”
-- “They throw the ball. I think they led the SEC in throwing attempts. It’s a great school that gives you a great education.”
RIVALS REACTION: Moore looked Ole Miss bound before Hugh Freeze was removed as coach. He may well still land in Oxford, but the race has certainly tightened up since. This race may depending on how hard each school pushes for his commitment down the stretch.
