Starting center Trey Hill underwent arthroscopic surgery on both knees Thursday morning and is expected to miss the rest of the year, multiple sources have confirmed to UGASports.
The native of Houston County has started all 36 games he’s played in for the Bulldogs, earning second-team All-SEC honors at center in 2019.
He’s expected to be replaced by redshirt sophomore Warren Ericson. Sedrick Van Pran has also worked at center and is an option.
This year, Hill has started at center in all eight of Georgia's games thus far and has played 95 percent of the Bulldogs' offensive snaps, including all of four games.
Although he’s struggled at times with snapping, Hill made a key third-quarter recovery of a teammate's fumble, 15 yards downfield from the line of scrimmage, to preserve what became a touchdown drive in the Tennessee game.
Prior to the season, Hill was named to the watch list of the 2020 Rimington Award, given annually to the nation's top center. He was also named to the pre-season watch list for the Outland Trophy (nation's outstanding interior lineman) and was tabbed as a second-team pre-season All-SEC, as picked by the media covering the league.
Hill was named one of three team captains for the Kentucky game.
