Swift sets the date

D'Andre Swift (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph's) has been one of the more highly recruited players in the entire country in the 2017 class. Earlier this summer, the No. 3 running back cut his list down to Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Penn State.

On Thursday afternoon, he took his recruitment a step further and set an announcement date.

Georgia has long been considered one of the leading contenders to land the talented prospect out of Pennsylvania. Swift spoke with Rivals.com about that perception last month.

"I really don't pay attention to questions about if Georgia is my leader," Swift told Rivals.com. "People ask me but I don't really pay attention to them. They have the same chance as every other school in my top five. I want to see all of my schools and then make my decision before the season. I like everything at Georgia. There are things to do around the town when football isn't going on. I really like the coaches there and it's big time football there too. They're in the SEC and they have a great running back tradition."

Georgia added a commitment another four-star running back earlier this summer when Toneil Carter made the decision to announce for Georgia. Given the uncertainty about whether Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will returning for their seniors seasons at Georgia, it's wise for the Bulldogs to continue looking for more talent and depth at the position.
