Smith gone, two others suspended

Georgia fans have been waiting for the announcement of what would happen with three Bulldogs that were arrested in recent months. Today, head coach Mark Richt made his announcement.
Sophomore center Ian Smith, who has been arrested twice in Athens, has left the team for medical reasons but will stay on to pursue his degree at UGA.

Junior quarterback Blake Barnes, who was charged with open container and giving alcohol to a minor, has received a one game suspension. That minor, junior tight end Tripp Chandler, will also serve a one game suspension.
The good news for Dawg fans is that there are plenty of other players on the depth chart to fill the temporary void left by Chandler and the permanent one by Smith.
Barnes is third in the depth chart behind starter Matthew Stafford and backup Joe Cox.
