Nico Iamaleava is no longer a Tennessee Vol – and the quarterback competition in Knoxville is open. During the spring game, former four-stars Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre each had their moments thrust into the opportunity to compete for the starting job. Then on Monday the Vols bolstered their QB room the addition of Cal transfer Joey Aguilar.
Brandon has not wavered in his commitment to Tennessee since giving the Vols his word ahead of his junior season. Rivals' No. 1 passer has only visited Knoxville since and that's a theme we expect to continue.
With Iamaleava out of the picture, Brandon's commitment to Tennessee only strengthens. His path to the field may take an even shorter route after an unprecedented turn of events to close out the spring.
Malik Agbo was a four-star offensive tackle signee out of high school who inked with Texas and was expected to be a part of the two-deep in Austin this year. The Longhorns are losing starting left and right tackles Kelvin Banks Jr. and Cameron Williams to the NFL Draft and with Agbo entering the portal, some talented underclassmen are now expected to play big roles up front for Texas.
The Longhorns are in need of impact freshmen at offensive tackle and have Felix Ojo atop their board. John Turntine III and Zaden Krempin are two more in-state targets that Kyle Flood is courting heavily to solidify the position in Austin.
Oklahoma lost former four-star tight end Davon Mitchell to the transfer portal last week. First-year Sooners GM Jim Nagy and head coach Brent Venables are in need of depth to restock the position on the roster and have one foot in the door in the form of 2026 four-star tight end commitment Ryder Mix out of Frisco (Texas) Lone Star.
With depth a need, expect the Sooners to add multiple tight ends via the high school ranks in 2026. Four-star Zachery Turner is a name we're hearing more and more frequently in conjunction with Oklahoma as a contender. Like Mix, Turner is a gifted pass-catcher with strong ties to the Sooners' program.
