Spring Review: Bennett spent his spring months working out with fellow freshman Hutson Mason, and put on approximately 10 pounds to get ready for the summer. As a high school senior, Bennett gained 1,084 all-purpose yards.
Fall Preview: Because of Georgia's moderate depth, Bennett will get an opportunity to show what he can do this fall. Look for Bennett to primarily work at flanker and eventually work himself into the rotation when the Bulldogs go in three-receiver sets.
Michael Moore was the most recent 82 for the Bulldogs. Although,
he never was the number one receiver due to Mo-Mass or A.J. Green, he did put up
solid numbers. Moore had five TD receptions in 2009, but three of them came
against ranked teams. The three were tied for the second most by any player in the SEC last season. Only Greg Childs of Arkansas had more.
Another 82 recently was Fred Gibson. Gibson ranks third
all-time at Georgia in receptions, second in receiving yards and second in TD receptions. In a game against Kentucky during his freshman year of 2001, he did something that no other Bulldog has ever done. As of right now, the Waycross native is only Georgia to have a 200-yard receiving game.
In that game he had nine receptions, 201 yards and two scores. He had some great basketball games for the Dawgs as well (remember 2002 vs Florida)… but Fred did not wear 82 for the basketball team.
Gene Washington was a speedy wide receiver for the Bulldogs in the mid 70's. This
82 led Georgia in receiving during the SEC Championship season of 1976. Twice in his career he had caught a touchdown pass for eighty or more yards. In 1976, he caught an 87-yarder from Ray Goff against Kentucky and the one all of us remember, the 80-yard strike from tight end Richard Appleby against Florida in 1975 which made Larry Munson bark "…Washington caught it thinking of Montreal and the Olympics, and ran out of his shoes right there 80 yards…" Thank you, Larry and thank you Gene.
It was the next game after the famous flea flicker. This was the 2nd game of the 1965 season and it was home against Vanderbilt. Quarterback
Preston Ridlehuber had a big game, mostly because he returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown and the Dawgs won 24-10 (see even back then, Georgia was using quarterbacks as punt returners).
In 1982, Herschel Walker finally got what he deserved… the Heisman Trophy. In 1980, he finished
third in the balloting and he was the runner-up in 1981. In 1982, he was also the Maxwell Trophy winner and the SEC Player of the Year.

Projected Fall Team Depth Chart Position:
Spring Review: According to Georgia's post-spring depth chart, White will go into preseason No. 2 behind Orson Charles, but don't get the idea that the Missouri native slacked off on the job. Not hardly. White has come a long way since arriving as a freshman, and will be a key component in Georgia's offense this fall.
Fall Preview: White and Charles may just be the best pass-catching combo at tight end in the SEC. His ability to get up the field will be factor opposing defenses will have to account for.
Aron White has been solid contributor the last two seasons for the Bulldogs. Although this number
81 has only caught 16 passes in his career, six of them have been for touchdowns. Five of the six touchdowns have been either against a ranked team or in a bowl game.
Another tight end that recently wore 81 was Leonard Pope. Pope had 65 receptions and ten touchdowns in his Georgia career. In the SEC Championship season of 2005, he led the Bulldogs with 39 receptions. Twice in his career he was named All-SEC.
81 was the amount of points scored in a game for Georgia against Mercer in 1941. It is the third highest total ever by a Bulldog team. It was also the last time Georgia has ever played Mercer in football.
An 81 that happened on a play last season was done by Brandon Boykin. Everyone remembers the length of two of three kickoff returns he had in 2009. Besides the 100-yard scores that he had in those games, he had also an 81-yard score in the bowl game against Texas A&M.
In 1978, Willie McClendon broke the Georgia record for most rushing yards in a season with 1,312 (yes, it was broken two seasons later by you know who). In the game against South Carolina, he ran for
81-yard score. It is one of seven rushing scores in Georgia history that were over 80 yards in length.
1981 - Georgia Record: 10-2
