Player Countdown to Kickoff - No. 68

Spring Review: Burnette is quickly becoming one of Stacy Searels' favorite players for his hustle and attitude. The former Troupe County star came to Georgia as an offensive guard but Burnette has since been moved to center where he will be a capable sub for Ben Jones whenever the Bulldog starter needs a break.

Fall Preview: Although he has yet to play in a game, it appears that Burnette has earned enough trust by Searels to see his share of action on occasion this fall. Burnette can also play guard, so don't rule him out from getting backup looks there as well.

Chris Burnette wears 68 for the Georgia Bulldogs right now. He was listed as the nation's number three guard in the 2009 recruiting class and the fourth best player in the state of Georgia.

Kim Stephens wore 68 in the mid 80's for the Dawgs. He started all four seasons as the right guard and was named All-SEC in 1987. He represented Georgia in the Japan Bowl following his senior season.

In 1989, Andre Hastings was mentioned in "Sports Illustrated" as a high school senior that he would be an All-Pro receiver in 1995. He had a very good career at the University of Georgia, catching 124 passes and 13 touchdowns. His longest touchdown reception came during his freshman season against Vanderbilt. The pass went 68 yards and it was thrown by Joe Dupree.

Charley Trippi was one of Georgia's greatest players ever. In the 1945 Oil Bowl against Tulsa, just minutes after passing for a 47-yard touchdown, he received a punt, ran, then reversed his field and then ran over two opponents for the 68-yard touchdown (this would have definitely been on SportsCenter's top plays).

1968 was a year in which Georgia won many awards. That year, Bill Stanfill became the first and as of right now the only Outland Trophy winner. Jake Scott was chosen as the SEC Player of the Year by the coaches and the Freshman of the Year was awarded to Mike Cavan. Vince Dooley was the SEC Coach of the Year as the team was voted the number one team in the nation by the Litkenhous Poll.
