Malcolm Mitchell is headed north after being taken by the New England Patriots in the fourth round with the 112th pick Saturday in the NFL Draft.

He wouldn't be the last.

Later, the San Francisco 49ers drafted Bulldog offensive lineman John Theus, taking the Jacksonville native in the fifth round with the 145th overall selection before the Washington Redskins took Keith Marshall, who went with the 242nd overall selection to the Washington Redskins in the seventh round.

As for Mitchell, the Valdosta native finished his college career with 174 catches for 2,350 yards and 16 career touchdowns in his four years with the Bulldogs.

He joins former teammate David Andrews who started for the Patriots at center for a number of games after signing as an undrafted free agent.

"It’s exciting. It’s an opportunity you can only pray and hope for," Mitchell said in a conference call with Patriot beat writers. "For me to get that opportunity, I’m very happy and thankful they belied in me. Now it’s my turn to come in and work as hard as I can to show that they made a good decision.”

Mitchell and Theus becomes the third and fourth Bulldogs drafted, joining Leonard Floyd in the first round on Thursday (Chicago) and Jordan Jenkins (New York Jets) in the third round on Friday.

"I feel pretty good in my ability to learn," Mitchell said. "I took a visit up there and we went over several different things to see if I would be a good fit for their system. For them to pick me that let’s me know they have confidence in me.”

Theus, meanwhile, started four years for the Bulldogs, earning All-Conference honors his senior year.

Washington then took Marshall in the final round by the Redskins, who took a chance on the North Carolina native who wowed with his performance at the NFL Combine after posting a 4.31 in the 40-yard dash.

Marshall finished his injury-plagued Bulldog career with 253 carries for 1,379 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He is the 16th Georgia player, and the first since Bacarri Rambo in 2013, to be taken by the Washington Redskins.

Nine more Bulldogs would later sign free agent contracts.

They included defensive linemen Sterling Bailey and Chris Mayes with the Atlanta Falcons, Sterling Bailey with the Indianapolis Colts, Jake Ganus with the Minnesota Vikings, Marshall Morgan with the Buffalo Bills, Jay Rome with the Pittsburgh Steelers, James DeLoach with the Detroit Lions and Nathan Theus with the Denver Broncos.
