Georgia has had considerable success recruiting South Florida over the years and Divaad Wilson is another example of that.

The four-star cornerback from Northwestern High in Miami held offers from the likes of Alabama, Michigan, and Nebraska before settling on the Bulldogs.

What makes his commitment and subsequent signing even sweeter? Wilson was a one-time Florida commit.

As UGASports continues its series taking a look at Georgia's nine early enrollees, we introduce Wilson who hopes to make an early impact with the Bulldogs this spring.

What's Georgia getting in Wilson

Plenty.

Defensive coordinator Mel Tucker likes physical cornerbacks and Wilson fits that bill.

Listed at 6-foot and 180 pounds, Wilson also has the size and speed, putting him in position for early playing time this fall.

Getting to school early will certainly enhance that opportunity.

Rivals Southeast Recruiting Analyst Rob Cassidy: "He broke out only recently, after showing the ability to cover a number of South Florida’s top-flight wide receivers. Wilson is a physical prospect with impressive speed.”

What to expect

Wilson is one of three defensive backs currently signed by the Bulldogs for 2018, along with safety Nadab Joseph and cornerback Christopher Smith.

Deandre Baker will obviously be one of the starters at cornerback, but the other position is wide open after the graduation of Malkom Parrish. Wilson figures to stand as good a chance as any.

It's all about making an early impression.

With his speed and athleticism, it's also reasonable to see Wilson get his share of looks on special teams.

Projected playing time

We'll see.

Deandre Baker will have one of the starting corner spots on lockdown with Tyrique McGhee, Mark Webb, Ameer Speed, Latavious Brini and Eric Stokes among the returnees expected to also vie for the job.

We've already mentioned fellow freshman Christopher Smith, and Georgia hopes that five-star recruit Tyson Campbell will join the fray.

If that happens, Wilson will have his work cut out for him. Still, if he can come in and make a quick impression this spring, he'll at least give himself a leg up that he might otherwise not have.
