So much for the thought that Saturday’s game against a nine-win LSU team would be a walk in the park for Georgia.

That’s what one gets for thinking.

The Tigers took the Bulldogs down to the very end before J.J. Frazier hit a pair of free throws with Georgia trailing by one point to put Mark Fox's squad up one with 1.6 seconds left.

After a quick shot by the Tigers, Derek Ogbeide was fouled and hit a free throw to account for the final score. A last-ditch shot by the Tigers fell way short off the top of the backboard.

With the win, Georgia improves to 17-12 overall and evens its SEC mark at 8-8.

LSU falls to 9-19 overall, 1-15 in the conference.

Turning point

After leading by as many as 17 points in the first half, Georgia allowed the Tigers to scrap right back into the game, eventually tying the score at 69-69 with just under seven minutes to play.

But the Tigers would not go away.

A three-point play by Frazier would push the Bulldogs’ advantage to 77-71 with 4:31 to play only to see LSU come back yet again, taking a 78-77 lead with 1:16 left on a put-back by Wayde Sims before Frazier’s heroics with 1.6 seconds saved the Bulldogs’ bacon.

Leading Scorers

Frazier led the Bulldogs with 29 points, marking the fourth time in five games that he’s scored 28 or more points.

Juwan Parker and Ogbeide added 12 points each.

A foul affair

Kenny Paul Geno … Georgia’s official goon? Who knew? But with just two team fouls and less than 10 seconds to play in the first half, the Bulldog senior was apparently instructed to foul, and that’s just what he did.

Over a five-second stretch, Geno made three quick fouls, the final one sending Skylar Mays to the line for a pair of free throws, which he hit to cut the Bulldogs’ halftime lead to 44-36.

Injury Update

Earlier in the evening Georgia announced that freshman guard Jordan Harris would miss an indefinite amount of time with a bone chip.

Bulldog officials did not say what part of Harris’ body the chip took place in.

Next Up

Georgia returns to action on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host Auburn in the regular-season home finale. It will also be senior night for Georgia, who will honor Frazier, Kenny Paul Geno, Houston Kessler and Brandon Young.
