Jacob Eason won’t play Saturday against Notre Dame, but he may be making the trip after all.

After practice on Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart said that’s something he’d certainly like to do, assuming the injured quarterback is deemed able to go.

“Sure,” said Smart, when asked if he’d allow the sophomore to travel.

With no travel limit on non-conference games, don’t be surprised if Eason – who sprained his left knee with 6:30 to go in the first quarter against Appalachian State – travels with his teammates to South Bend for Saturday night’s contest (7:30, NBC).

Although there is still no announced timetable for his return, Smart said Eason is rebabbing and doing everything else he’s supposed to in order to get back on the field.

“He’s been in all the meetings, he’s been involved in everything,” Smart said. “I hope he’s throwing soon. I hope he’s on the trip. I wish he could play.”
