Gridiron talent shows out at state track meet

The GHSA state track meet was held at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson last weekend, and UGASports was on hand to see many of the state's best football talent in action. Here are the results of the 2011 signees and 2012 prospects in attendance.

2011 Signees:
A
Mitchell County wide receiver Justin Scott-Wesley (Georgia signee) ran a 10.76 to win the A state championship in the 100 meter race. Charlton County athlete Chris Milton (Georgia Tech signee) took fourth with a 11.08. Scott-Wesley took second in the 200 with a time of 22.18, and Milton took sixth with a 22.54. Scott-Wesley was also part of a Mitchell County 4X100 relay team that won first place with a time of 42.31, and a 4X400 relay team that took second overall with a 3:25.51. Milton's Charlton County team took fifth in the 4X100 with a 43.58. Milton won the state championship in the long jump with a 22' 10.25" jump.
AA
Elbert County cornerback Valdon Cooper(Illinois signee) won the AA 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.37. He also won the long jump with a jump of 22' 9." His team took fifth I the 4X400 relay with a time of 3:32.090. Cooper took second in the triple jump with a jump of 46' 0.000." Pepperell offensive lineman Kyle Harris (South Carolina signee) took second in the AA shotput with a put of 52' 8.500."
AAA
Carrollton running back Broderick Snoddy (Georgia Tech signee) placed second in the AAA 100 meter dash with a time of 10.73. Snoddy took eighth in the 200 with a time of 23.720. His Carrollton relay team won second place in the 4X100 relay with a time of 41.687. He also took home 4th in the state 4X400 relay with a time of 3:21.46. Monroe Area quarterback Demontevious Smith (Georgia Tech signee) placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.15. Smith placed sixth in the long jump with a 22' 2.250" jump. Grady cornerback Damian Swann (Georgia signee) was part of the eighth place 4X100 team with a time of 43.525. Dalton offensive tackle Watts Dantzler took (Georgia signee) third in the shotput with a 52' 3 put. Monroe Area defensive end Stephon Tuitt (Notre Dame signee) placed sixth in the discus with a 148' 6 throw.
AAAA
Kell safety Brian Randolph (Tennessee signee) was part of the 4X100 team that took fifth place with a time of 42.499. Griffin safety Corey Moore (Georgia signee) helped his team take sixth place in the 400 meter relay with a time of 42.649. Starr's Mill wide receiver Jeff Greene (Georgia Tech signee) and running back Zach Laskey (Georgia Tech signee) took fourth in the 1600 meter relay team with a time of 3:18.690. Thomas County Central defensive end Ray Drew (Georgia signee) placed fourth in the shotput with a put of 53' 11.500." Drew also won the state title in the discus with a throw of 183' 7.000." Whitewater running back Josh Clemons (Kentucky signee) placed fifth with a put of 53' 9.000."
AAAAA
Newton running back Akeem Hunt (Purdue signee) helped his 400 meter relay team to a first place finish with a time of 41.790 and third place in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 3:19.650. He place second in the long jump with a 22' 10.750" jump. Hillgrove linebacker Jabari Hunt-Days (Georgia Tech signee) won first place in the shotput with a 53' 3.000" put. Mill Creek fullback Tyler Cierski (Maryland signee) had a put of 48', good for seventh place. Lowndes defensive back Kenneth Durden (USF signee) won the triple jump with a jump of 47' 3.750."
2012 prospects and commitments
A
Lanier County defensive end Junior Gnonkonde (Georgia Tech commitment) took home fourth in the A shot put with a put of 48' 6. Jenkins County defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor was fifth with a put of 47' 1.5," and his teammate and fellow Jenkins County defensive lineman James Deloach was seventh with a put of 45' 9.750." Deloach also took home fifth in the discus with a throw of 147' 5.000."

Pepperell defensive tackle Dakota Ball (Alabama commitment) placed third in the AA shotput with a put of 50' 5.500." County defensive end Leonard Floyd (Georgia commitment) took fifth in the AA shotput with a put of 48' 11.750." Pierce County fullback/defensive end Quayvon Hicks placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 135' 4.000."
AAA
Carrollton cornerback Jonathan Jones took first place in the 110 meter high hurdles and 300 meter intermediate hurdles with times of 14.02 and 37.39. Jones placed fourth in the long jump with a 22' 8.750" jump. His Carrollton relay team won 2nd place in the 400 meter relay with a time of 41.687. He also took home fourth in the state 1600 meter relay with a time of 3:21.46. 2013 Peach County wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was part of the fourth place 400 meter relay team, with a time of 42.129. Carrollton tight end Zach Gordon took third in the discus with a throw of 149'.
AAAA
The Creekside 400 meter relay team, which includes cornerback Joshua Holsey, defensive back Davion Tookes (Virginia Tech commitment) and 2014 defensive back Evan Berry, won the AAAA championship with a time of 41.136. That was the eighth fastest time in the country according to Creekside head football coach Johnny White. Mays wide receiver Jonathan Williams helped his squad to fourth place in the 4X100 with a time of 42.447. Kell linebacker Jordan Chambers won state in shotput with a put of 61' 7.500." Chambers took fifth in the discus with a throw of 155' 8.000."
AAAAA
McEachern wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo was part of the 400 meter relay team that placed second with a time of 41.980.
