Green honored by SEC

After his eye-opening performance in Saturday's 27-10 win at Arizona State, it was practically a forgone conclusion that freshman A.J. Green would get some kind of notice from the Southeastern Conference.
Monday morning, he did as the Summerville, S.C. native was tabbed the conference Freshman of the Week.

Green recorded eight catches for 159 yards, both career highs, and one touchdown in Georgia's victory over the Sun Devils.
"I really didn't know that they (coaches) would be looking for me more, but whatever I can do to help is fine by me," Green said. "It was a lot of fun."
Seven of Green's catches and 150 of his yards actually came in the first half, as the Sun Devils began double-covering the freshman in the second half.
But by that time, Green had already become the first Bulldog to have more than 100 yards receiving in a game since 206, and his performance was the best at Georgia since Fred Gibson had 160 yards against Arkansas in 2004.
His touchdown late in the first half gave the Bulldogs a 21-0 halftime lead and was the second of his career.
