What's next?
Players who entered the portal are allowed to remain in school, but once they go in they are often no longer considered part of the team.
Players who enter the portal during the window have until the start of classes at their new school to make a decision.
The NCAA’s second portal window takes place May 1-15, which gives players who do go through spring practice an opportunity to leave should they so desire.
It’s unclear whether more Bulldogs will consider a move after spring, but do not be surprised if they do.
Last year, defensive lineman Tymon Mitchell transferred to TCU after spring practice. Others could follow suit this year as well.
During an interview in Los Angeles, head coach Kirby Smart acknowledged he’d spoken with players who were thinking about transferring. Some stayed, some didn't.
“That made me want to cry,” said Smart, acknowledging that NIL is being used to entice players to schools.
At Georgia, Smart’s message to players is a simple one.
"(NIL) may be dangled as a carrot at some places, but really it's about do you want to be part of this team? Do you want to grow and get better?" Smart said. "Do you want to get a chance to do what Devonte Wyatt did? Do you want a chance to do what Chris Smith did? Do you want to have a chance to do what Jordan Davis did? Do you want to have a chance to do what Quay Walker did? So, there are great opportunities to move from a late-round draft pick with your grade to an early-round draft pick."
