Donovan Georges commits to the Bulldogs

The Bulldogs picked up more good news in the hours leading up to National Signing Day. Florida linebacker Donovan Georges decided he wanted to be the third commitment for Georgia's Class of 2018.

"I wanted to play in a big conference ," Georges said. "I have been liking Georgia since I was 12. I have liked Coach Kirby Smart and was talking to him when he was at Alabama. Now that friendship has carried onto Georgia. So since then I have liked Georgia all the way until now when I made my decision."

Georges decided to announce before national signing day so as not to distract from his teammate who will be signing tomorrow.

"I had a conversation with my mom and dad and my coaches and they were telling that this is not a joke, it is something serious," Georges said. "My parents liked my decision. SO I called the Georgia coaches and told them what was happening and that I wanted to got Georgia."

The reaction from the Georgia coaches was immediate.

"They were fired up," Georges said. "They were really happy I made that decision. They said they were excited to coach me."

The Bulldogs' coaches weren't the only excited ones.

"My parents are really happy for me," Georges said. "They wanted me to get out of Miami. They didn't want me to stay in Miami and I an sort of getting tired of Miami too."

Georges doesn't expect to visit other schools.

"No, Georgia is a good fit for me ," Georges said.

Georges had 156 tackles, 17 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The Bulldogs recruited Georges as a linebacker and a defensive end. Wide receivers coach James Coley was Georges primary recruiter.
