Dawgs tabbed to win East

HOOVER, Ala. - Despite losing most of its entire starting defense. Georgia was the easy pick to win the SEC East Thursday morning by the conference media.
Alabama (225 first-place votes) was tabbed to win the West and the overcall conference crown.
The Bulldogs picked up 149 first-place vote, compared to 75 for South Carolina and 19 for Florida.
"I knew it was going to be us, Florida or South Carolina. I knew it would be one of us," head coach Mark Richt said. "I think it's a tough call this year, plus you never know what Tennessee will rise up and do or really anybody for that matter."
Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky round out East voting.
In the West, Texas A&M was picked second (11 first-place votes), followed by LSU (7), Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State and Arkansas.
Alabama received 182 votes to win the overall SEC crown, followed by Georgia with 38.
The preseason All-SEC team was also announced.
Running back Todd Gurley and tight end Arthur Lynch were both named to the First-Team Offense.
Others include Keith Marshall (second-team offense), Chris Burnette (second-team offense), Jordan Jenkins (second-team defense) and Damian Swann (second-team defense).
Quarterback Aaron Murray, wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell and Garrison Smith bwere each named to the third team.
