COMMIT: Dawgs add Rivals150 Power Forward Amanze Ngumezi

Just yesterday, Rivals.com basketball analyst Corey Evans expected Georgia to be in the driver's seat for Rivals150 power forward Amanze Ngumezi heading into September.

That statement turned out to be quite prescient, as the 6-foot-9 senior from Savannah's Sol C. Johnson High School announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Saturday during his official visit to Georgia.

"Everything is just perfect here for me,"Ngumezi told UGASports moments after his commitment at 12:22 a.m. ET on Sunday morning. "It's hard for me to not be successful. It's more then basketball, the education is unbeatable."

Earlier in the week Ngumezi mentioned how close he had grown to the staff in Athens.

“I like the relationship that coach Jonas (Hayes) has established with me. He has made sure to stay in contact with me every day," Ngumezi said. "He texts me good morning every day and the relationship with us, it is better than any other coach that is recruiting me right now. He just tells me what classes I have to step up in and in regards to recruiting me. He has done a great job as far as that all goes."

Ngumezi, Georgia's first and only commit for the 2018 class thus far, made no secret of his affections toward the Bulldogs after picking up the scholarship offer in late July.

“The offer from Georgia feels good," Ngumezi said at the time. "It feels good they finally recognized me.”

Now, Ngumezi will focus his efforts on developing his game both for his teammates and for his future home, where he hopes to fit in quickly and live a 'dream'.

“I just like the way that they play and me being from Georgia, it is every kid’s dream to get an offer from them,” Ngumezi said.
