Byrd has a big night

North Augusta's CJ Byrd continues to look like the best prospect in South
Carolina on Friday. Byrd had 21 tackles (unofficial) and one interception in the

10-7 loss to South Aiken on Friday. Looking on at the game was an assistant from
Florida State, which is one of Byrd's five finalists along with Southern Cal,
Georgia, Florida and Clemson.
Byrd, who was hindered early in the season with a high ankle sprain but has
since recovered, left on Saturday morning for an official visit to Southern Cal.
"I felt great out there on the field," Byrd said. "I don't really keep up
with individual stats, only if we won or lost. Unfortunately we played hard and
came up short."
North Augusta was eliminated from playoff contention in the loss and drops to
2-7 on the season.
