Even with no Robbie Burnett or Ryland Zaborowski in the lineup, runs were not a problem for No. 3 Georgia in Tuesday’s game against West Georgia.

Thanks to a big day from Nolan McCarthy and Daniel Jackson, the Bulldogs cruised past the visiting Wolves 13-6, pushing Georgia’s record to 25-2.

If the Bulldogs were still relishing their success from last weekend's huge sweep at Florida, it didn't show.

Bulldog bats came out swinging, and despite a mid-game blip when the Wolves scored six unanswered runs, it was another easy Foley Field win.

"We're gonna lose a tough one somewhere along the way. And it's how you just get up the next day if you let that fester or you carry over too much from what happened in the weekend. That's how you'll sneak up and get beat," head coach Wes Johnson said. (West Georgia) is like 13 and 9, something like that, coming into the night, just came off a three-game sweep on the road. So no, I challenged our guys to get a day to respect the game, come out, it doesn't matter who you're playing, stay locked in from the first pitch, and keep going."

McCarthy had it going early.

The Kentucky transfer – who went 2-for-3 – had a home run and five RBI by the end of the third for Georgia, which scored 10-plus runs for the 13th time in 27 games.

Jackson wasn’t bad himself. The Wofford transfer homered twice and drove in four. Both homers were two-run shots, the second coming in the seventh to extend Georgia’s lead to 11-6

Jackson (3-for-5) now has six home runs, giving Georgia eight players with five or more home runs this year. Devin Obee also homered for the the Bulldogs, who continue to lead the country in home runs with 74.

"Everyone in this lineup's got juice and can put it out. So, it doesn't matter who's in the plate because those trees aren't safe."

"We got plenty of pop, plenty of speed, play some D. I mean, just all around. So it's fun to be around a group of guys who are like-minded," McCarthy said. "I'm not gonna as many home runs as Zabo or even Dan. But I mean, everyone in this lineup's got juice and can put it out. So it doesn't matter who's in the plate because those trees aren't safe."

Jackson - who did not play last weekend against Florida - was just happy to help out.

"Even when I'm not playing, I'm still trying to get better every day, so when the time comes, I can help my team," said Jackson.

As for Burnett and Zaborowski, Johnson said that neither played due to illness but would be back in the starting lineup this weekend against Auburn.

"Robbie ate some bad food on the bus ride home, and Zabo did too. Zabo's didn't hit him until a little later. We tried to sneak him in there tonight. It's one of those things where I had to step up and say, no, both you guys are gonna go get an IV and be ready for the weekend," Johnson said. "One hundred percent (they'll be ready for the weekend). We could have pushed it tonight, but that's one of those things where I've done this too long, and there's no need to push that."

West Georgia (13-10) – which played Tennessee tough recently before falling 4-2 - scored six unanswered runs off Georgia pitching after the Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the third.

Four of the runs came off seldom-used Lucas Morici; otherwise, Georgia pitchers were on-point in what as a staff day against the Wolves.

That included starter Tyler McLoughlin (3-0), Paul Farley, Eric Hammond, Jordan Stephens, Davis Chastain, Alton Davis II, DJ Radtke, and Brian Zeldin, each tossing a scoreless inning.
