Another Dawg in trouble

Marquis Elmore has become the latest Bulldog to have a brush with the law in what's turning into a tumultuous off-season for Georgia's football program.

According to a University of Georgia police report, Elmore, a rising senior defensive tackle from Folkston, was pulled over Sunday afternoon around 5:01 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. Elmore is the fourth Bulldog since November to be arrested, but is the only one with an incident not related to alcohol.

Further details about any forthcoming punishment from head coach Mark Richt are not known at this time. Elmore's arrest came in the same weekend that back-up center Ian Smith was suspended for two games after being arrested for public intoxication early Saturday morning.

Held back by position changes and injuries, Elmore's career has been marked by a lack of playing time. In three seasons, he's managed just five tackles.

Two other Bulldogs, safety Antonio Sims and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe have a long road ahead if they're going to play for Georgia in the future. Sims is appealing a semester-long suspension by the University's Office of Judiciary Programs after misusing a parking pass and being charged with DUI in November. If suspension holds up, Sims won't be eligible to take classes at UGA, preventing him from being a part of the football team.

Ellerbe, charged with theft by taking and DUI in January that brought an indefinite suspension from the football team, is taking steps to try and gain reinstatement with the team.
