5-Star Day for the Dawgs

EVANS - Friday morning finally brought to rest what had long been speculated: 2015 five-star safety Rashad Roundtree announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs, becoming the 24th member of the 2015 class.
"Georgia was just the best for me and felt more like home," Roundtree said following the announcement at his school. "They've got a great coaching staff, great players and it just felt like a natural fit for me."

An Evans, Ga. native and product of Lakeside High School, Roundtree joins fellow five-stars Terry Godwin and Trenton Thompson as highly rated in-staters to commit to the Bulldogs for 2015, giving them the number 7, number 8, and now, Roundtree, number 24 ranked players in the Rivals100.
Roundtree chose the Bulldogs over a host of offers, including primary contenders Ohio State and Duke, thanks in large part to proximity and the continued efforts of Georgia staff, primarily defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt.
Roundtree indicated his parents were glad to see him stay close to home.
"Proximately was pretty big for my parents, really not so much for me, but after traveling around and seeing what I have seen, it was the best school for me," he said. "I'm used to being around SEC football plus I'm around players I'm more comfortable with."
Georgia saw Roundtree at Dawg Night and again as it hosted Vanderbilt, and though it was hinted throughout the process that that the Bulldogs led, Roundtree remained tightlipped until today's decision.
He joins recent commit Johnathan Abram, as well as long committed Deandre Baker and Deontai Williams as Georgia's true defensive back commits, though it is expected Shaquery Wilson will have the opportunity to compete for playing time in the secondary, as well.
Although some have wondered if linebacker might be his future home, Roundtree said he doesn't think that will be the case.
"For a linebacker in the SEC I'm really small. I have the physicality but because of my size and weight it would be a little bit of a factor," he said. "So it will probably be safety where I can make plays in the defensive backfield, get everyone lined up, things like that."
