2022 ATH Cedric Washington talks 'dream college' UGA, Nick Chubb

When Nick Chubb isn't busy trucking over NFL linebackers, the former Georgia Bulldog has been quick to get home to Cedartown, Georgia and continue his training.

During this shutdown, one of his workout partners just so happens to be a rising star in the Class of 2022, four-star athlete Cedric Washington.

Already high on the recruiting radar for 2022, Washington has plenty of interest in the Bulldogs of Georgia.

"I’ve been working out with Nick and my coach," Washington said. "I'm trying to get ready for the season and make history. I'm just ready to have fun with my team and lead them right."

While some high school prospects might be awestruck working next to one of the most talented running backs in the NFL, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Washington takes it all in stride.

"I don’t really see him as an NFL player. He's just another guy like me, trying to get better and just keeping going, you know?" Washington said. "I’ve actually gotten to know him my freshman season, and overall, it’s been pretty cool working with him. He pushes me when it gets harder. He acts like my coach sometimes and tells me what I’m messing up. Then, we work on it."

Surprisingly, the topic of Athens hasn't come up much.

"We don’t really talk about that, but he did say if I decide to go somewhere, go for myself and make sure it was the best decision for me," Washington said. "I’ll talk to him (about it)."

That doesn't mean the Bulldogs are an after-thought for the rising junior, however.

"UGA has been my dream college, and I’ve always looked into the coaches," Washington said. "I saw how they came together, and I never thought I could be a part of that. (Getting the offer) was a blessing, man. Everyone (in my family) was excited. We went out to eat and all. We just couldn’t believe it."

Those notions were all reinforced by his time on campus.

"When I visited UGA, it felt like home," he said. "It was easy for me to open up to them."

Without visits, though, Washington has taken it upon himself to look into the offerings in Athens.

"I've learned more about the school and how they get their education," he said.

Coaches have also been reaching out consistently.

"I speak with Coach Glenn Schumann and Coach Dan Lanning regularly," Washington said. "They see me at linebacker."

There's still plenty for him to see after shutdown, though.

"I want to go everywhere, honestly," Washington said. "It’s just been exciting for me and my family to get the experience of being a college prospect. I haven’t really been worried about my offers. I have to worry about what’s going on now."
