Velasco SEC OL of the Week

University of Georgia senior center Fernando Velasco was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office on Monday.
Velasco, a 6-4, 318-pound native of Wrens, Ga., anchored the Bulldog offense during Georgia's 35-14 season-opening win over Oklahoma State on Sept. 1. After starting at offensive guard every game in 2006, Velasco lined up in front of sophomore quarterback Matthew Stafford against the Cowboys and helped Georgia¹s offense pile up 376 total yards on offense.
In addition, Velasco and the offensive line paved the way for 142 rushing yards and allowed Stafford to get sacked only twice. Velasco was last named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after Georgia's win over UAB in 2006.
