UGASports is introducing a new feature this week, the UGASports Player of the Week. In the inaugural edition , the award goes to Matthew Stafford.
Stafford was instrumental in Georgia's 54-21 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles. He threw for a career high 275 yards with 13 of 21 completions. Stafford had two touchdown passes, one to Demiko Goodman as well as a 61 yarder to Kris Durham. All of this was accomplished in just three quarters of play. Stafford had no interceptions and only took one sack.
When asked his opinion of the team's performance Stafford said "I thought we played pretty well, but we had penalties and turned the ball over.
"We weren't perfect with our execution, and I missed a couple of reads. Other than that, I thought we played well. It was good to finally get out here and play in front of our fans."
For his performance, leadership, and desire for nothing less than perfection UGASports Names Matthew Stafford the Player of the Week.
