Kirby Smart got his man. Tyson Campbell officially announced that he would be signing with the Georgia Bulldogs while making his decision on ESPNU during a National Signing Day ceremony at his school.

The five-star cornerback has everything a college coach looks for and Smart made that abundantly clear each time they spoke.

“The pitch pretty much is that they can see me as a guy to come in early and contribute to the team," Campbell said recently. "They think I’m one of the best corners in the country.”

That same attitude of being the best pushed Campbell into the elite five-star status after his dominating performance at the Army All-American game. His goals before the game were simple, yet precise.

“I want to show that I can play the corner position, and also, I’m a pretty good player,” Campbell said in January. “I’m physical, fast, and I can play the ball.”

Campbell is 6-foot-2, but is also one of the fastest cornerbacks in the nation, thus making Campbell almost an ‘Easter egg’ of sorts, because there aren’t a lot of prospects with his blend of talent and size. That is why many of the top programs in the nation made him a top priority after the early signing period ended.

In the end, Smart and his coaching staff beat out Alabama, Clemson, and Miami for a dynamic cornerback that has the potential to make an instant impact.

Campbell becomes the eighth five-star in the Class of 2018 for the Bulldogs, making this the best recruiting class on paper that has ever signed to play football in Athens.
