VALDOSTA - Lowndes offensive lineman Dyshon Sims flew under the radar for a good portion of the recruiting process, but that is no longer the case.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound prospect has gotten offers from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi State this spring, and UGASports caught up with him on Thursday to talk about his recruitment.
UGASports: Talk to us about what is going on with your recruitment. What is going on there?
Sims: "There has been a lot of recruiting going on lately. I talked to Ole Miss probably around two days ago maybe. I talked to a lot of major SEC schools, Georgia and Alabama, so there has been a lot of recruiting going on lately.
UGASports: Talk about your visit plans. I know you have some coming up.
Sims: I'm going to Florida State this weekend for an offensive line camp. I'm going there Saturday. Then next Friday, I'm going to head up to Athens to the University of Georgia and then the Friday after that I'm going to Tuscaloosa to go to Alabama.UGASports: Does your mom plan on taking any of these trips with you? I know she is important to you in this process.
Sims: "Yes sir. She is definitely coming up there with my granddad and Woodrow (Clemons).
UGASports: Talking about your recruitment, you were offered by Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi State, what school leads right now?
Sims: "I would say Georgia."
UGASports: "What makes them the leader?"
Sims: "Probably because I want to play for my home state at heart, but I would say Georgia. Georgia is leading."
UGASports: When you talk about making decision, you recruitment is picking up but you don't seem to be the type that is waiting on more offers. When do you think you'll be making a decision?
Sims: "Definitely I'm probably going to make a decision by the end of this summer or the beginning of fall. It is going to be somewhere around there.
UGASports: What are you looking for when you make that decision?
Sims: "Probably a school that my mom is kind of comfortable with. I know she doesn't just want to send me anywhere. Definitely when she comes to terms on the school I would like to go to, then I will probably end up committing then.
