Ever since taking the job at Georgia, head coach Kirby Smart has preached how important it is for the Bulldogs to improve on the line of scrimmage. He also has not hidden the fact that the offensive line is a priority position for his program in the 2017 class.

For those reasons, he’s probably a very happy man this afternoon as he received a commitment from Justin Shaffer (Cedar Grove, Ga./Ellenwood).

"I love it there," Shaffer told UGASports before he announce his commitment on Twitter.

Shaffer, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive tackle, had been committed to Louisville prior to switching to Georgia.

The news comes just two days after the Georgia native visited Athens.

"It was a really good visit. I had a great experience there and had good time hanging out with the coaches," Shaffer said. "I had a one-on-one individual talk with both Kirby [Smart] and [Sam] Pittman. They are trying to get me to come in and help build the foundation that they are trying to be as an offensive team."

Shaffer becomes Georgia’s fourth commitment in the 2017 class joining four-star prospects Richard LeCounte, Breon Dixon and Jaden Hunter. Shaffer will play guard at for the Bulldogs.

Shaffer is teammates with Rivals100 offensive guard Netori Johnson. Johnson recently backed off his commitment to Alabama and Shaffer believes they would be an excellent duo on the next level if they select the same school.

"It would look good because it would make our high school look good as us coming into the same college as quality players from that school," Shaffer replied. "Just knowing that we have been together for a while and we could put our talents together and try to win a National Championship together."
