Another game, another highlight reel effort by senior J.J. Frazier.

Georgia fans have come to expect that over the last two weeks and Wednesday’s 79-78 nailbiter over Auburn didn’t disappoint.

Frazier poured in 31 points to key the win for the Bulldogs after a last-second 3-pointer by the Tigers was off the mark.

With the win, Georgia stays alive for a spot in the NCAA tournament, improving to 18-12 overall, 9-8 in the SEC.

Auburn falls to 17-13, 6-11 in conference play.

Three-point prowess

After converting just 3 of 9 three-point attempts in the first half, the Bulldogs found their range in the second half, making 10 of 22 from beyond the arch.

Frazier was the main man responsible, finishing the night 5 of 9 but Tyree Crump was on the mark as well.

The freshman made 2 of 3, all in the second half.

Harris makes an amazing recovery

On Saturday, head coach Mark Fox told beat writers that freshman Jordan Harris would miss an indefinite amount of time with a bone chip.

Apparently, his prowess for recovery was greater than anyone thought.

Midway through the first half, he went to the scorer’s table and moments later came into the game after not playing in Georgia’s last three contests against Kentucky, Alabama and LSU.

It didn’t take him long to make his presence known, sinking a three-pointer to bring the Bulldogs back under 10 points of Auburn after the Tigers had led by as many as 16 points.

Leading Scorers

As mentioned above, the main man was Frazier, scoring 31 points.

For those counting, it was the fifth time in six games he has scored 28 or more. Crump added 10 for the Bulldogs, the third time he’s finished in double-figures this season and Derek Ogbeide had 10 points as well.

Senior starters

Per usual, Fox allowed all four of his seniors in Wednesday’s game, meaning Kenny Paul Geno, Brandon Young, Houston Kessler were all in to start the contest, along with Frazier.

The quartet remained in the game for the first 1:56, before regular starters Derek Ogbeide, E’Torrion Wilridge and Juwan Parker replaced Geno, Kessler and Young with Auburn leading 5-2.

Of the trio, Geno was the only senior besides Frazier, obviously, to have started a game this year.

Next Up

Georgia closes out the regular season Saturday at Arkansas with a 2 p.m. tipoff against the Razorbacks. The Bulldogs then head to Nashville for the SEC Tournament which begins March 8.
