The Bulldog affectionately known as "Big O" has played his last game at Georgia.
Darnell Washington announced on Thursday afternoon that he would be foregoing his senior season and declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft. He broke the news via his social media.
After appearing in 18 games his first two seasons in Athens, Washington had his biggest season in 2022. The 6-foot-7, 270-pound tight end caught 28 passes for 454 yards and two touchdowns while playing in all 15 games.
Washington's contributions were just as big in the blocking game. Kirby Smart praised him often for his work as a blocker both on the line of scrimmage and in space on the outside. HIs prowess there was vital in Georgia's offensive success.
Washington is Georgia's fourth tight end to depart since the beginning of the 2022 season. Arik Gilbert, Brett Seither, and Ryland Goede have all entered the transfer portal. Georgia's tight end room now consists of Brock Bowers, Oscar Delp, Pearce Spurlin, and Lawson Luckie.
