Georgia will officially be replacing both tackles in 2023.
Right tackle Warren McClendon announced on Saturday afternoon that he will be entering the 2023 NFL Draft. The news comes one day after left tackle Broderick Jones also announced his intention to head to the NFL.
He wasn’t the only one.
Running back and leading rusher Kenny McIntosh, backup offensive lineman Warren Ericson and wide receiver Kearis Jackson also did as expected, announcing they were moving on.
A senior with a Covid year of eligibility had he desired to take it, Jackson caught 21 passes for 320 yards last year.
Ericson, meanwhile, played in all 15 games, all in a backup role.
McClendon saw action as a reserve in his 2019 freshman season. The next year he moved into the No. 1 role, starting nine of Georgia’s 10 games.
McClendon has been a fixture on the Bulldog offensive line the past two years. He started at right tackle in all 15 games in 2021. This season saw McClendon start the first 13 games before suffering an MCL injury against LSU in the SEC Championship Game. He returned to the field in the National Championship Game, playing a reserve role behind Amarius Mims.
Names such as Earnest Greene, Austin Blaske, Amarius Mims, and others will be among those who get a look at tackle moving forward.
