THE LATEST: His first visit to the university of Georgia will be one he remembers. Jaylin Simpson made the trip from his home in St. Simons (Ga.) to Athens (Ga.) Friday and it was well worth it.

The long and rangy star athlete at Frederica Academy added an offer from the Bulldogs during his visit. It was big news for Simpson with Georgia being an in-state school, a school his mother thinks highly of and it is a school he wanted an offer from.

Simpson is a star on the football field and basketball court on the high school level and he met with coaches from each sport while in Athens. His offer is to play football between the hedges.

The 2019 prospect has an impressive list of offers early and he has real interest in the Dawgs.

IN HIS WORDS...

ON THE GEORGIA OFFER: "Georgia has been talking to me and showing me love, so I kind of saw the offer coming," said Simpson. "Coach [Kirby] Smart is the coach that told me that I have the offer. We talked about my grades, how he liked me, and things like that as we walked to his office, and then he let me know about the offer."

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VISIT: "The offer was big for me, but the coaches and the facilities also stood out to me while I was there. I like the coaches a lot and it is a place that kind of feels like home to me. The coaches comforted me a little and it was just a nice visit."

HIS INTEREST IN UGA: "I like Georgia a lot. It is an in-state school, it has always been my mom's favorite school, so this offer made her happy. It is a great place, I like it up there a lot and the coaches are great people. Georgia is a school that I really like."

ON FAVORITES: "Right now Ohio State is No. 1 and Georgia is No. 2."

RIVALS REACTION: Georgia made a strong impression on Simpson Friday while they had the elite athlete on campus. He spent time with Glenn Schumann (inside linebackers), Mel Tucker (defensive coordinator/defensive backs) and Kirby Smart (head coach) — all impressed him. His mother would love for him to stay close to home, so that plays in Georgia's favor. He would like to return to Athens this spring and summer to spend more time around the coaches and players. Being only a sophomore, he does not plan to commit any time soon.
