It appears that Scott Fountain is headed back to Georgia to be an assistant football coach Kirby Smart.
UGASports mentioned recently that Fountain was being interviewed, and according to a tweet from FootballScoop.com that indeed appears to be the case.
It’s expected that Fountain will serve as the Bulldogs’ special team’s coach, which he helped coach last year along with former tight ends coach Shane Beamer, who recently left for Oklahoma.
Fountain had left a month ago to become the special teams coordinator at Mississippi State before returning to UGA.
His hiring leaves Georgia with one more spot to fill on its 10-man coaching staff. Although no announcement has been made, sources tell UGASports that former Vanderbilt wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton is a candidate to fill the final role on Smart's staff.
Hankton coached the last three years for Derek Mason and is a former six-year NFL veteran, having played with Jacksonville, Minnesota and Tampa Bay.
More to come.
