Every week, Dayne Young and Brent Rollins break down the video and data from the most recent Georgia football game. This is Film Don't Lie.

Offensive line rebounds

Dayne: Keep your eyes on Warren McClendon at right tackle. He does a marvelous job of sliding with his defender and keeping upper body leverage. This kept the pocket clean long enough for Stetson Bennett to find Jermaine Burton. This kind of protection was not happening early versus Arkansas.

Brent: McClendon did not allow a pressure in his 20 pass block snaps, and Bennett was only pressured on six of his 29 drop-backs. As an aside, this play is the next step for the Georgia offense: play-action passing on early downs. Through two games, the Bulldogs have only used play-action on 14 of Bennett's 61 drop-backs, which is the second-fewest for quarterbacks in the SEC. On those 14 play-action drop-backs, Bennett is 9-13 for 118 yards.

Dayne: Here we see Justin Shaffer and Trey Hill pulling left to lead block for James Cook. We anticipated more movement from Georgia's offensive linemen under Todd Monken and Matt Luke. Also, notice Demetris Robertson ready for the bubble screen on the other side. This is a beautiful play design with quick options to both sides for the quarterback to choose.

Brent: The formation gives Jamaree Salyer and Darnell Washington great down block angles, allowing Shaffer and Hill to get out cleanly and work up to the corner and play side linebacker (No. 0). The ability to mix in down blocks and pulling to go along with their primary zone blocking scheme makes interior defenders have something else to think about in the run game. James Cook shows his burst and will hopefully soon turn these into even bigger gains. Through two games, he has yet to force a missed tackle as a runner.
