Defensive Targets

The last three years, the University of Georgia has wrapped up the majority of its recruiting class before the New Year.
In fact, only seven commitments have come after Christmas during that period.

There's a bit more intrigue this time around.
With 65 players already on scholarship, it would appear that Georgia only has room for 20 players in this class. The Bulldogs already have 18 commitments, with three enrolled and on campus. Attrition is normal and will happen, but there seems to be only room for a handful more.
Today take a look at the defensive targets left on the board.
DL Kwame Geathers – Out Carver's Bay in South Carolina, Geathers, is a stud on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-5 330 pounder wants to be the next in the great defensive lineman in his family, which already includes three pro players and an emerging star at South Carolina. His recent clinic at the Offense-Defense Bowl opened a lot of coaches' eyes, and it seems like he is starting to learn how to utilize his size. It seemed like it was down to South Carolina and Georgia, but now Tennessee and Central Florida are jumping in. He is set to decide on Signing Day, but it wouldn't be surprising for him to wait like his brothers did.
DE Jarvis Jones - If the answer to last year's disappointing defense is a little bit of nastiness, then look no further than Jones. The 6-foot-3, 228-pounder is feared on the field, and an enigma off it. He still has Texas and LSU left to visit, and the Bulldogs are still on him hard. While no one has been able to get a read on the Columbus native, the consensus is he will leave the state.
DB Jawanza Starling - Starling has for the most part, declined to do interviews. He has put more interest in choosing the school that is right for him, and seems to want the best balance of education and playing time. UGA may have the inside track, but FSU is right in there as well. Stanford left a bigger impression than most thought, and a visit to Southern Cal could really make it interesting. Georgia coaches were in Tallahassee yesterday visiting with Starling for quite some time.
DB Greg Reid - The headliner coming down the stretch is from Winnersville, ga, also known as Valdosta. Greg Reid has been dropping bombs left and right as he keeps peoples guessing as to what he will do next. One thing is for sure, the drama is worth it for the five-star talent. He is having to make up for lost time with his late de-commitment from Florida, and faces a tough decision ahead. His first visit to Florida State was an eye-opener, and he likes coaches and opportunity there. But the in-state school has been working Reid hard, with Georgia's other commits also recruiting him to come to Athens. Look for him to go to UGA or FSU at this point.
