Dawgs land five-star commitment from Tyre West

Early signing day for the Class of 2021 is just two weeks away, but the Bulldogs aren't content with stopping there when it comes to recruiting.

Already on a solid roll with the Class of 2022, Wednesday brought news that Tift County's Tyre West, a five-star defensive tackle ranked as the nation's No. 12 overall player, will be a Bulldog.

For West, the pledge to the Bulldogs felt like a matter of if, not when, based on comments he made in October.

"I've visited Georgia about 10 times, so I know a lot about them. The coaches always call me, they make sure I'm good, and I just relate to the coaches at Georgia," West told Chad Simmons.

More recently, he was quick to give special credit to his future positional coach, Tray Scott.

"Tray Scott is like a dad to me. All the coaches are like fathers to me," West told Trent Smallwood last Friday. "Through the recruiting process, they talked to me about life, about school, about football—pretty much everything."

West becomes the first five-star commitment of the 2022 cycle.

He joins a talented trifecta of Rivals250 Georgia-based defenders already locked in — Marquis Groves-Killebrew, Cedric Washington, and Deyon Bouie.
