Dawgs add QB commit

Georgia added another preferred walk-on to their class when San Juan
Capistrano (Ca.) quarterback Nick Robinson announced his commitment to the

Bulldogs. The three-star chose Georgia over scholarship offers from Florida
International, Lafayette, San Diego and a preferred walk-on offer at Notre Dame.
Robinson gave the news to a certain happy Bulldogs coach on Friday morning.
"Coach [Mark] Richt," Robinson said. "He told me he was excited I'm coming and
that he thinks I made the right decision."
He visited the University of Georgia on the weekend of January 16 and the trip
ultimately made his decision.
"I really enjoyed the time I spent down there," Robinson replied. "I thought it
would be a great fit."
Even though Georgia was competing against other schools that were offering him a
scholarship, the coaching staff treated him no differently throughout the
recruiting process.
"They (Georgia) were talking and recruiting me as much as the other schools,"
Robinson added.
The six-foot-two quarterback knows he won't be on scholarship but that isn't going to stop
Robinson from his ultimate goal.
"I'm not sure [when a scholarship will come]," Robinson said. "I'm just coming
in and I am going to compete for a job."
Competing is a task Robinson did on a regular basis throughout his high school
career. He led JSerra Catholic to a win over Southern California
quarterback commit Ricky Town and his St. Bonaventure team his senior season. He
competed 67 percent of his passes on that night to Town's 47 percent.
Robinson also faced off with UCLA quarterback commit Josh Rosen in 2014. While
his JSerra team lost to St. John Bosco 49-44 on that night, Robinson completed
70 percent of his passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns to Rosen's 67 percent
completion rate and 115 yards.
While facing tough competition comes naturally to Robinson, he feels a different
skill will allow him to be successful in Athens.
"A good game manager," Robinson told UGASports. "This season my team finished
ranked as the No. 1 team in Orange County for the first time in school history."
The California quarterback closed out his senior campaign passing for 2,054
yards, 22 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. He completed 69 percent of his passes
while also rushing for 314 yards and five touchdowns.
