Byrd back from ankle injury

North Augusta ATH C.J. Byrd (6-3, 189, 4.37) is expected to return to action in tonight's game against Lower Richland.
Monday's 7:30 game between the two teams will be played at Lower Richland and is a make-up for this past weekend's game that was postponed due to inclement weather conditions.

Byrd sat out last week's loss to Dutch Fork while recovering from a high ankle sprain. Byrd has been rehabilitating the ankle, and was "questionable" if the Lower Richland contest had been played last Thursday and Friday. Given a few more days to rehab with the weather delay, Byrd now is expected to play tonight for North Augusta (1-2).
"My ankle feels good, and I'm ready to play," Byrd said. "I did not like being on the sidelines against Dutch Fork at all."
Also, Byrd made an unofficial visit to Georgia on Saturday to watch the Bulldogs play Marshall. UGA is one of Byrd's five finalists out of 33 offers with the others being Clemson, Southern Cal, Florida State and Florida.
Byrd was originally scheduled to go to Tennessee-Florida this past weekend, but had to call it off with the Volunteers at the last minute because of weather. This upcoming Saturday, Byrd and his teammate, highly regarded junior LB Marcus Jackson (6-0, 200, 4.57) will travel Florida State for an unofficial visit to watch the Seminoles play Clemson.
Jackson is only a junior but has already generated an enormous amount of recruiting interest. He has been to games at Georgia (twice), South Carolina, and has trips planned to games at FSU, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Auburn.
