Bluegrass Shocker

LEXINGTON, KY - Four Georgia players scored in double-figures, led by Terrance Woodbury's 30 points, and the visiting Bulldogs defeated the host Kentucky Wildcats 90-85 Wednesday night at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
The Georgia victory avenged a 68-45 loss the Wildcats handed the Bulldogs in Athens on Jan. 18. Wednesday's win was Georgia's first in Lexington since 2004.

"It was a real team win," interim coach Pete Herrmann said. "I felt we were aggressive offensively. We wanted to make sure we constantly put pressure on their defense because they are very good in the passing lanes. I told our guys to play with purpose and maintain their poise. It was a great win."
The Bulldogs (12-18, 3-12 SEC) trailed by as many as seven in the first half, but reversed the deficit by the end of the half. Georgia held a 47-40 advantage late in first before Kentucky closed on a 9-0 run in the final minute of the half to take a 49-47 lead at halftime. Woodbury led Georgia with 21 first-half points to keep Georgia close.
Five minutes into the second half, however, the Bulldogs put together a 14-4 spurt to race out to a 61-53 lead, one they would never relinquish.
But the Wildcats would make it interesting down the stretch, With Georgia leading 74-64, Kentucky (19-11, 8-7) would make yet another run to close the gap. A Jodie Meeks 3-pointer cut the Bulldog lead to 83-80 with two minutes to play, then a couple of free throws by both sides made the score 85-82, but Kentucky couldn't get any closer.
It was one of the better shooting nights of the season for the Bulldogs as they shot 50 percent from the floor, 68 percent from the 3-point line and 83 percent from the free throw line on a season-high 25 of 30.
Woodbury's game-high 30 points came by way of 7 of 13 from the floor, including 4 of 4 from the 3-point line, and a perfect 12 of 12 from the free throw line.
"Watching film over the last game, they took me out of my game," Woodbury said. "Coach told me to drive the ball. We played an all around game tonight and we played well together. It was a tough win."
Trey Thompkins recorded his fourth career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Dustin Ware added 18 points and Corey Butler finished with 13. Meeks finished with 23 points to lead Kentucky.
Georgia will host its home finale Saturday when the Bulldogs face South Carolina at 2 p.m. The game will be televised by Raycom Sports.
