2020 schedule has different look
For the first time 84 years, Georgia and long-time rival Auburn will not be playing in November.
In 2020, the Bulldogs and Tigers will square off a month early on Oct. 10 in Athens, according to the schedule released by the school Wednesday afternoon.
The last time Auburn and Georgia didn’t play in November, you have to go all the way back to 1936, when the Tigers beat the Bulldogs in Columbus, 20-13.
That’s not all.
Georgia opens up conference play on Sept. 19 in Tuscaloosa against Alabama, after opening the season on a Monday night in Mercedes Benz Stadium against Virginia (Sept. 7) and a home contest against East Tennessee State (Sept.12).
Following the trip to Alabama, Georgia will be home for three straight weeks, first against UL-Monroe (Sept. 26), Vanderbilt (Oct. 3), and Auburn on Oct. 10.
The Bulldogs travel to Missouri on Oct. 17 before the lone open date on the schedule (Oct. 24) before traveling to Jacksonville on Oct. 31.
Georgia’s November slate will also feature a different look with a road game at South Carolina (Nov. 7) and a home contest against Tennessee (Nov. 14) before closing out the regular season at Kentucky (Nov. 21) and at home against Georgia Tech (Nov. 28).
