Talented trio emerges at Central Gwinnett

Former Gainesville offensive coordinator Todd Wofford knows talent when he sees it. He had current Notre Dame freshman Tai-ler Jones, Alabama freshman Blake Sims, and 2011 Rivals250 linebacker A.J. Johnson at his disposal in 2009. Now the head coach at Central Gwinnett, Coach Wofford could very well have another trio of BCS level athletes at his disposal. The featured weapon on offense is 2012 running back/wide receiver George Morris. Morris is still learning the nuances of being playing tailback, but the junior has already put up impressive numbers for Coach Wofford in his first year as head coach.

Morris ran 145 times for 710 yards and five touchdowns this fall, and caught 56 passes for 661 yards and eight touchdowns. Morris also returned eight kicks for 156 yards. His coach says many prominent programs are showing Morris attention at the moment, including Georgia Auburn Florida, South Carolina, Clemson, Miami, Florida State, Tennessee and Alabama.

"George is a complete back that has great speed and is also a physical runner," said Coach Wofford. "He is a big back that has small back skills."

Another promising 2012 prospect is defensive back Aaron Taylor. The 6-foot-1, 185 pound junior had an impressive campaign this fall, and should have a number of colleges checking him out in the spring.

Taylor racked up 91 tackles, one sack, one interception, and three passes broken up as well this year.

"Aaron is a physical safety that could actually grow into a rover type position with his tackling ability. South Carolina, Auburn and Georgia Tech are showing him interest.

Just as A.J. Johnson is considered by some to be the best overall talent to come out of Gainesville in recent years, Coach Wofford feels his best player may be sophomore linebacker Trey Johnson. Johnson, who racked up 152 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and seven and a half sacks in 2010.

"Trey is very physical, athletic and has a great nose for the ball," said Coach Wofford. "He has great leadership skills for such a young kid. High motor player who can really hit."

Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Cincinnati are the schools showing interest in Johnson.
