Yante Maten will miss an undetermined amount of time after spraining his right knee Saturday night against Kentucky, Georgia officials announced Sunday morning.

There is no determinable time table for his return to action.

"I am very disappointed for Yante," Fox said. "He loves to play, and it's tough when that is taken away by injury. Fortunately, it appears that surgery is not needed, and he should make a full recovery in time."

Obviously, this is a huge blow for the Bulldogs.

Maten, who leads the Bulldogs and ranks third in the SEC in scoring, was injured just 95 seconds into the first half of Saturday night's game. On the season, Maten is averaging 18.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 1.5 bpg.

He has a team-high 24 double-digit scoring games, with ten 20-point and three 30-point performances.

Following the collision with Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe, the crowd grew silent as Maten was helped to his feet before hobbling to the locker room. He was unable to put any pressure on his right leg, although he returned to the bench and stayed there until the end of the Bulldogs' 82-77 loss.

With Maten out, look for sophomore Mike Edwards to slide into the junior's starting role. Edwards scored 10 points in the loss.
