Let the smack talking begin

Georgia-Florida Week has already gotten off to a smack-talking start - at least from Gainesville.

When Georgia and Florida get together, motivation is typically not a problem for either team.

Monday, a couple of Gators appeared to up the ante.

“They might be the No. 3 team in the country, but they can’t beat Florida,” wide receiver Josh Hammonds told reporters during Florida’s weekly press conference on Monday.

The talk didn’t stop there.

According to safety Chauncey Gardner, he’s not very impressed with what he’s seen from Bulldog freshman quarterback Jake Fromm.

“He’s throwing simple passes,” Gardner said. “I get it. Anybody can throw a slant.”

Georgia’s response?

The Bulldogs' presser was almost complete when word started to trickle down what Florida’s players were saying, although center Lamont Gaillard was asked to give his take.

“I really don’t care for it much,” said Gaillard.

Obviously, the Bulldogs don’t need much more motivation to play well on Saturday.

Georgia (7-0, 4-0) currently holds a two-game lead in the SEC East, and are very much in the picture for the one of the four playoff spots, assuming the team can keep on the winning track.

Anyone waiting for ammunition from the Bulldogs might have to wait a while.

When asked if Florida’s recent run of success (the Bulldogs haven’t beaten the Gators since 2013) would serve as extra motivation, defensive back Aaron Davis shrugged.

“I’m sure it something that guys can use to channel. I haven’t beat them since I’ve been here as far as actually playing, so you can channel it and use that as motivation,” Davis said. “But our biggest motivation is the fact that it’s our next game and that’s what we look forward to as far as going on the field and show we’ve gotten better since the last game we played."
