With Georgia needing something to go right after three weeks of mostly futility, senior guard J.J. Frazier took matters - and Saturday's game against Tennessee - into his own hands.

The result, a 29-point, six-assist effort that carried the Bulldogs past Tennessee 76-75 at Thompson-Boling Arena.

"This week I told them I wasn't going to let us quit," said Frazier. "I wasn't going to let us just lay down. Sometimes you can give everything you have and it's just not good enough, but I wanted us to continue to give everything we had."

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 14-11 overall, 5-7 in the SEC. Tennessee falls to 14-11 and 6-6.

“J.J. just refused to give in, and he did what seniors do: he led the fight. Then we had other guys contribute," Georgia head coach Mark Fox said. "Derek [Ogbeide] inside defensively, he and Mike [Edwards] rebounded the ball, and Tyree came in and made some threes… You can go on down the line, but it started with [Frazier] leading the fight."

Credit Frazier for that. The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 14 points and played most of the second half without the services of Yante Maten, who picked up his fourth personal foul early in the second half before fouling out with just over five minutes to play.

“We got it done because J.J. Frazier loves playing for this school,” said Fox, who gave true freshman Tyree Crump the first start of his career.

Crump responded with 13 points.

Georgia trailed for the entire game before taking the lead with 4:08 left to play before Crump's third three-pointer pushed the margin to six points.

Tennessee cut the margin to two points but Frazier responded again, hitting a layup and a free throw to seal the victory.

"We've been saying the last couple of weeks it would turn our way, it would turn our way," Frazier said. "But the other day I told them we've got to make it turn our way. We've got to find a way to make the plays at the end of the game."

Georgia returns to action Tuesday night at 9:00 against Mississippi State.
