The Bulldogs secured commitment number seven on Sunday afternoon as Rivals250 defensive end Elijah Jeudy announced his pledge via a UGASports video on Instagram and Twitter.

How does the addition impact Georgia? Where will pass rushing recruiting efforts turn now? Let's dive in on both questions.

WHAT IT MEANS

For Georgia, Jeudy is a perfect representation of the national recruiting approach Kirby Smart has championed since taking the helm in Athens.

Sowing the seeds of the Bulldogs' brand well outside the state borders early in Smart's tenure was a key move that brought in the likes of D'Andre Swift and Mark Webb. Subsequently, their impact, both on their hometown of Philadelphia and the Georgia team, have helped to market the staff as a talent developer and a safe landing spot for out-of-state kids.

Could Jeudy have ended up in Athens without that groundwork being laid? Sure, it's possible, but it doesn't feel nearly as likely without the endorsements of Darren Swift and the success of his son and nephew in Athens.

Outside the recruiting angle, the Bulldogs add a talented pass rusher with the speed and size necessary to compete in a loaded room at the position.

On film, Jeudy shows a tremendous first step and great snap recognition, along with the ability to power through would-be blockers and bend the edge.

Once he's in the backfield, he's active with his hands, leading to those coveted "havoc" plays that Smart and company want so much. There are sacks, fumbles, rushed throws, and tackles for loss dotting his highlight reel.

Expected to begin his career at outside linebacker, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Jeudy's ultimate position may not be known until a year or so on campus. Should he pack on pounds, which his frame could handle, he could see himself slated for a larger role with a hand in the dirt. If not, he'll likely end up in a role that might spark memories of D'Andre Walker for Georgia fans.

WHAT'S NEXT

Georgia went light at both inside and outside linebacker in 2020, so expect to see a larger focus at those positions in this cycle.

When it comes specifically to the Jack position, where Jeudy figures to land, there are several strong options left on the board and feeling the press from the Bulldogs.
